Smith’s analysis focuses specifically on the OTHERS/BTC ratio, which measures the performance of altcoins compared to Bitcoin. As Smith’s chart analysis shows, the OTHERS/BTC ratio saw some significant spikes historically. In 2018, that ratio soared, doubling from less than 10 to close to 20. In 2021, it skyrocketed from about 10 to over 40.
Smith proposes that this third wave might just bring the value over the top to 50. He thinks this would be a big win for people who own altcoins, as opposed to Bitcoin. Smith’s projection would put the beginning of this third wave by the middle of 2025.
