Nevaeh Eth, a dynamic and brilliant three-sport athlete from Lynn Classical, has long been lauded as the Greater Boston League MVP. Eth was very successful in volleyball, basketball, and softball, demonstrating her excellence across all three sports. Her stellar performance on the diamond, resulting in a .478 batting average and other league-leading stats, made her an undeniable force in the league. Eth’s commitment, effort, and talent—her capacity to excel at three sports while being a star student—culminated in this amazing achievement.
A Three-Sport Star
Eth’s dedication to athletics started her freshman year, when she played volleyball, basketball and softball all in one year. Juggling three sports took extraordinary time management and commitment, but Eth felt that experience to be priceless.
"I've enjoyed playing three sports since freshman year. It's definitely time-consuming, but honestly, I think it's worth it and it taught me how to balance sports and school." - Nevaeh Eth
Eth also captained the girls basketball and softball teams. She continued to lead by example and she continued to be dedicated to her teammates. Her head coaches, Chris LeBlanc (volleyball), Tom Sawyer (basketball), and Joe Morin (softball), mentored her growth in each of those sports.
Softball Stats
One part of Eth’s performance was truly remarkable – and at times completely unbelievable – to watch. She had an outstanding .507 batting average, 35 hits, four home runs, and 36 RBIs. She scored 41 runs. These statistics showcase her offensive prowess and the ability to consistently contribute to her team’s success.
Eth’s commitment to making things better stretched beyond the regular season. She played on travel softball every weekend and took part in a summer league at St. Mary’s.
"I was working every season – especially in the summer. I would be playing all the sports at once. I would have travel softball, which was every weekend, then I had summer league at St. Mary's. Then, for volleyball, we'd have workouts, so we were always in the gym." - Nevaeh Eth
The Key to Success
Eth is a strong advocate for playing multiple sports as a way for young athletes to develop themselves into all-around better athletes. She was adamant about the fact that playing all three seasons helped round her into a more athletic and better skilled overall athlete. Eth stressed the need for hard work and a commitment to self-improvement.
"It's all about the hard work you put in behind the scenes that people don't get to see. I'm just always trying to improve myself and get better each day." - Nevaeh Eth
Eth also attributed her family and support system for helping her juggle her rigorous athletic and academic commitments.
"I have such a great support system. My family, coaches, and teachers have all helped me balance everything." - Nevaeh Eth
